Pixel Technology

Pixel sabers are referred to by multiple names, such as Neopixel, Xenopixel, SN Pixel, Proffie, Golden Harvest and more. Neopixel or Pixel for short are umbrella names for various specific implementations. At PixelSabers we feature SN Pixel and Proffie options for those looking for a Pixel saber. Proffie is consider the most advanced Pixel technology, while is SN Pixel covers most of the ground while being more affordable.

Their features are quite similar and you can get a good idea about their capabilities from our SN Pixel V4 video demonstration below.

Feature Demo

Pixel technology has advanced the field of lightsaber replicas considerably. While a basic Baselit (a.k.a. RGB) lightsaber might do for playful duels, the clear brightness and closer-to-movie appearance of pixel makes it a favorite for many fans. When you turn on a pixel lightsaber, it feels more like what we've seen in films, thanks to its brighter glow.

Beyond the brightness, Pixel offers more design options. Unlike older lightsabers with LEDs just in the hilt, Pixel designs have LEDs throughout the blade. This means you can have different lighting effects and colors, and there's more freedom in designing unique lightsabers, similar to the likes of Kylo Ren's standout design.

Key Features:

  1. Blade Effects: The ability to control individual LEDs means that Pixels can showcase a variety of effects: smooth ignition and retraction, blaster bolt deflection, and others.
  2. Customization: The Pixel technology offers vast customization options. From the color of the blade to specific lighting sequences and sound effects, users can make their saber truly unique.
  3. Sound and Synchronization: Advanced soundboards enable synchronization between the saber’s movements and iconic sound effects, making swings, clashes, and ignitions even more realistic.
  4. Durability: Designed to be more than just showpieces, these lightsabers are durable enough for medium dueling, blending aesthetics with function

  5. Blade Tip Illumination: Unlike some older models, the Pixel ensures consistent lighting from the hilt to the very tip of the blade, eliminating any dark spots.
  6. Motion controls: Pixel sabers can be controlled with a flick of a wrist: change effects, sounds, ignitions, and many more.

What Can You Do with a Pixel Lightsaber?

Pixel lightsabers are not just for show; they can handle light to medium dueling due to the flexible LEDs in the blade. They're a solid choice for both cosplayers and fans. The technology allows for some neat effects, like blade animations and a unique look similar to Kylo Ren's lightsaber. You can either recreate the style of a Star Wars character or design your own unique version.

One major advantage of pixel lightsabers is that each LED can be controlled individually. This offers more visual options compared to traditional RGB lightsabers. Still, the hilt remains important, housing the electronics, batteries, and sound components.

However, there's a trade-off. Pixel lightsabers, while efficient with LEDs, can use up batteries quickly. So, if you're thinking of taking it to an event or party, it's a good idea to have some spare batteries on hand.

What many users appreciate most about pixel technology is the way the blade lights up and turns off. It mimics the look of the movies, making it a closer experience for Star Wars fans.
