Baselit Technology

If you are researching lightsabers you probably will or already have come across terms like Baselit, Pixel, RGB, Neopixel and more. These can be confusing at first.

In this article we will explain what Baselit sabers are what are their key features.

Technology

Baselit a.k.a. RGB is a lightsaber technology when the blade is illuminated by an LED mounted at the base of the hilt where the blade is inserted. Hence, the name Baselit.

This approach results in a lighter and cheaper lightsaber as compared to Pixel versions. The blade is simple but sturdy polycarbonate tube.

Below is a video demonstration of some key features of a baselit lightsaber.

Feature Demo

Baselit (a.k.a. RGB) lightsabers are a great choice as the first lightsaber or when picking a heavy dueling lightsaber. They are also lighter and are easier to spin or do various tricks.

While they are still very bright they lack in brightness and effects compared to their Pixel (Neopixel) counterparts.

If you are searching for a collector grade replica saber then the price difference is less of a concern and we recommend a pixel version.

Key Features:

  1. Blade Effects: The ability to control individual LEDs means that Pixels can showcase a variety of effects: smooth ignition and retraction, blaster bolt deflection, and others.
  2. Customization: Some of the newest versions of baselit sabers are now also offering customization options. From the color of the blade to specific lighting sequences and sound effects, users can make their saber truly unique.
  3. Sound and Synchronization: Advanced soundboards enable synchronization between the saber’s movements and iconic sound effects, making swings, clashes, and ignitions even more realistic.
  4. Durability: Designed to be more than just showpieces, these lightsabers are durable enough for heavy dueling.
  5. Motion controls: sabers can be controlled with a flick of a wrist: change effects, sounds, ignitions, and many more.
